Save Money! Insulate Your Loft...

If you are looking for ways to reduce your energy bills, insulating your loft is both one of the most cost effective and easiest ways. Fitting the correct type and thickness could save you up to a massive £150 per year, which I think you will agree, is no mean amount.

Insulating a full loft in an average house can be fairly expensive initially (you need to think about long term savings) but buying your insulation materials from Homebase will save you 50% of the price at the moment.

Visit www.homebase.com and take a look at the savings available. Pipe insulation and energy saving bulbs are also on offer at the moment, so even more savings could be achieved.

Did You Know..?

If everyone in the Uk with gas-fired central heating switched to a high-efficiency condensing boiler, enough energy would be saved to heat 3.5 million homes for a year!

Go Green when you DIY!

Green DIY doesn't have to mean building your own wind farm and straw bale house (although if you have done either of those we congratulate you). Simply making sure that you use timber from sustainable forests or choosing VOC-free or natural paint all helps to reduce the impact we have on our environment.

It is getting easier and easier to find green products, and indeed many diy stores are promoting the use of them heavily and offering some good discounts. Here are a couple of articles from
http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/ which will help you make your diy a bit more green...
