Cement Mixers and Ready Mix...

Ready-Mix Concrete
There are a few DIY jobs which might require large amounts of concrete at one time, including creating concrete driveways or laying the concrete slab foundation for a garage or outbuilding. In these cases it is worth considering getting your concrete ready-mixed from a local supplier.

Using a Cement Mixer
Mixing concrete and mortar by hand is fairly easy to do and offers a good amount of control over the consistency of the mix. However, if you have a large amount of concrete or mortar to mix, it is often worth hiring a small cement mixer to make things easier.

Wallpapering and Rainwater Drainage Systems...

There are several new articles over on http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/ at the moment. Head over and check them out...

Rainwater and Drainage Systems

"In the UK, as in many other Northern European countries, an efficient and well maintained rainwater collection and drainage system is essential. The average yearly rainfall in the UK adds up to around 750mm, and if your gutter, gullies and downpipes aren't up the job, you will soon start to see damage being done to your house... "

How to Paper a Ceiling

"In most cases it is better to paint a ceiling rather than papering it. Applying wallpaper to ceilings is tricky as you are working at awkward angles and against gravity. Any imperfections will also show up as the ceiling of a room is usually well lit and the light source is close to the surface and liable to create shadows along any raised edges. However, there are times when you might wish to paper a ceiling..."

Kamasa Off-Line Driver and Kamasa Security Scissors

The nice people at Kamasa have just sent us a couple of very useful little tools to be reviewed over at http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/.

First up is the excellent Off-Line Driver, which fits into any standard electric screwdriver and allows you to hold the screwdriver at an angle to the screw. Very useful for tightening screws in awkward places!

The second tool is the Kamasa Security Scissors. These strange looking things have 5 sets of blades instead of the standard 1 set and are designed to let you shred important documents, bank statements, credit card bills, etc, quickly and without fuss (and they work brilliantly!).

Both tool reviews (along with all the others we have written) will shortly be available to read on
http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/.

Tool Reviews @ www.diy-extra.co.uk

The tool section over at DIY Extra is gathering pace, albeit a little slower than planned. We now have full reviews of the Dremel Driver and Einhell's 217 Piece Multitool. These will shortly be followed by reviews of some great Kamasa products over the next day or two.
Apart from these new products, over the coming weeks we will also be reviewing some of the large number of both hand tools and power tools that we already own and use regularly.

Check out the tool reviews now, over at www.diy-extra.co.uk/tools.html.

Dremel Driver Review

We were very kindly sent the new Dremel Driver today, and we have to say it is a great bit of kit. There is unlikely to be a loose screw anywhere within 100ft of this PC by 5pm today :)

We are planning to put the Driver through its paces today and then we will be writing a full review of this handy little tool and posting it on
http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/ tomorrow.

The DIY Extra Blog is born!

Yes, that's right, this is a blog about DIY (along with home improvements, green living and a few other bit thrown into the mix). My main website, http://www.diy-extra.co.uk/ is crammed with guides, advice and articles on a massive range of DIY subjects, from Building a Stud Wall to Wiring a Plug.

However, I often get sent details of diy products on offer and other home and garden related stuff and the site really isn't the place for it, so...

It's all going to be on here!

- DIY Consumer News
- Home and Garden Offers
